Commercial and Government Entity (CAGE) codes are five-character identifiers assigned to suppliers, manufacturers, and distributors by the Defense Logistics Agency (DLA).
Why CAGE Codes Matter
Any company doing business with the US Department of Defense or NATO allies must have a valid CAGE code. It is required for contracts, invoicing, and parts traceability.
How to Obtain a CAGE Code
- Register in the System for Award Management (SAM.gov)
- Complete the entity registration with DUNS number
- Receive your CAGE code within 1-2 business days after validation
- Maintain annual renewals to keep your code active
For international suppliers, the NCAGE (NATO CAGE) system provides equivalent identification codes for non-US entities.
